Authority (Human Design)
The inner decision-making mechanism in a Human Design chart — it shows where a reliable yes or no actually comes from: the body, the emotions, or time.
Your authority is determined by the deepest defined center in your bodygraph's hierarchy, and it shows where a decision worth trusting actually comes from, rather than from the mind's analysis. There are several kinds: emotional (clarity only arrives after riding out the emotional wave — no decisions at the high of excitement or the low of doubt), sacral (an instant bodily response in the moment), splenic (a quiet, one-time intuitive nudge easily drowned out by overthinking), ego authority (an honest "what do I want, and what am I willing to commit to"), self-projected (clarity is heard in your own voice while talking something through), mental (understanding arises through dialogue with trusted people), and lunar — for Reflectors, who need a full lunar cycle, about 28 days, for a decision to ripen. The common enemy of every authority is the mind, which brilliantly imitates any inner voice with its arguments. The practice is to make small decisions using your own authority and watch the outcome, until trusting it becomes a habit.
