Biorhythms

Biorhythm Calculator

Enter your birth date to see your physical, emotional, and intellectual cycles today, a 31-day chart, and the critical days coming up in the next two weeks.

Biorhythms use your exact birth date — day, month, and year all matter here (unlike Personal Year, which only needs day and month).

A biorhythm calculator tracks three cycles that are said to begin the day you're born and repeat on fixed schedules for the rest of your life: a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional cycle, and a 33-day intellectual cycle. Each one is modeled as a simple sine wave — rising to a peak, falling to a trough, and crossing the zero line in between — so plotting the days since your birth against that wave gives you a percentage reading for each cycle on any date, including today.

The math behind each curve is nothing more than sin(2π × days since birth ÷ cycle length): a 23-day physical cycle completes a full rise-and-fall every 23 days, a 28-day emotional cycle every 28, and a 33-day intellectual cycle every 33 — and because 23, 28, and 33 rarely divide evenly into each other, the three curves drift in and out of phase with each other for years before any two line up the same way again.

A "critical day" in biorhythm theory is simply the moment a cycle crosses zero — neither high nor low — which the original theory (developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by researchers including Wilhelm Fliess and Hermann Swoboda) treated as a point of instability worth noting. Mainstream science has never found a biological mechanism behind biorhythms, so the fairest way to use this calculator is as a lightweight daily reflection prompt, not a forecast — a nudge to check in with your energy, mood, and focus rather than a reason to cancel plans.

No controlled study has found a reliable link between the three biorhythm cycles and real outcomes like accidents, performance, or mood, and mainstream science treats the theory as unproven. This calculator presents the classic sine-wave model as a reflection tool — a structured way to check in with yourself — not as medical, psychological, or predictive advice.

A critical day is a day when one of your three cycles crosses the zero line, switching from positive to negative or back again. Biorhythm theory treats these transition days as slightly less stable than days deep in a high or low phase, though — like the rest of the theory — this isn't something science has verified.

Each cycle is a sine wave: take the number of days between your birth date and the date you're checking, divide by the cycle's length (23 for physical, 28 for emotional, 33 for intellectual), multiply by a full circle (2π), and take the sine of that — the result, from -1 to 1, is shown here as a percentage from -100% to +100%.
