Chiron

Chiron is a centaur asteroid between Saturn and Uranus that in astrology symbolizes a "deep wound" which, over time, becomes a source of strength and a gift for healing others.

Chiron was discovered in 1977 and moves on an unstable orbit between Saturn and Uranus — that "borderline" position is exactly what gave it its symbolic meaning as a bridge between structure (Saturn) and awakening (Uranus). In myth, Chiron is a wise centaur healer who suffered an incurable wound himself and became a teacher of heroes precisely through that experience. In astrological practice, Chiron's placement in a natal chart is read as pointing to the most sensitive zone — the place where a person has most deeply felt "something is wrong with me." What sets this symbol apart is that the wound it points to rarely "closes" completely; instead, a person learns to live with it in a way that turns the experience into a capacity to support others through similar pain — therapists, mentors, and healers are often marked by a strong Chiron. For self-knowledge, Chiron is useful as a direction rather than a diagnosis: it points to where it's worth no longer being ashamed of vulnerability and starting to explore it as a source of depth rather than only weakness.
