Midheaven (MC)

The Midheaven, or Medium Coeli (MC), is calculated the same way as the Ascendant — from an exact birth time and place — and marks the point of the ecliptic at its highest position above the horizon at that moment, in that spot on Earth. Astrologically, the MC is the cusp of the tenth house and is traditionally tied to career, reputation, public recognition, and the direction in which a person wants to "leave a mark" on the outside world. If the Ascendant describes how you come across in direct contact, the MC is more like your public image over the long run — who colleagues, a community, or a professional field gradually come to see you as. The sign and planets near the MC often point to a natural path for expression: an MC in Libra, for instance, leans toward partnership-based or public-facing roles, while a strong Saturn nearby points to a career built slowly but built to last. For self-knowledge, it helps to read the MC not as a ready-made profession but as a direction: the question "how do I want to be remembered in my work" often clarifies a stuck career decision better than a blunt "what should I do for a living."
