विशुद्ध Viśuddha
Honest expression — saying what's true, and being heard.
Vishuddha sits at the throat and governs how honestly you speak — not just what you say, but whether your actual thoughts make it out into the open. Day to day, this is the gap between what you think in a meeting and what you actually say out loud.
A clear throat chakra looks like saying 'no' without over-explaining, and trusting that your voice carries weight in conversations that matter to you. It's also the willingness to sit with an uncomfortable silence rather than filling it with something you don't mean.
When this center is blocked, words get stuck — you rehearse what you meant to say hours after the conversation ended. Or the opposite happens: talking becomes a way to steady yourself, filling every silence, needing the last word to feel settled.
Signs of balance
- ✦You can say what you actually think, even when it's uncomfortable.
- ✦Saying 'no' doesn't require a long justification.
- ✦You feel heard in the conversations that matter most to you.
- ✦Silence in a conversation doesn't feel like something to rush to fill.
- ✦Your tone stays steady even when the topic is difficult.
Signs of blockage
- ✦Rehearsing conversations after the fact, wishing you'd said the real thing.
- ✦Swallowing disagreement to keep the peace, then feeling resentful later.
- ✦A pull to fill every silence, or to need the last word.
- ✦Your voice or breath changes noticeably when you're about to say something honest.
- ✦Saying yes automatically, then scrambling to walk it back later.
Practices
One unspoken truth, out loud
Say one true thing out loud today that you'd normally keep to yourself — to another person, or even alone in a room. Start small; the point is practicing the sensation of an honest thought leaving your mouth.
Humming warm-up
Hum a low, steady note for one minute, feeling the vibration in your throat and chest. This simple warm-up is often used before speaking up in a difficult conversation.
Pause before yes
Before agreeing to something today, pause for three seconds and check whether it's actually a yes. A short pause is often enough to catch an automatic agreement before it leaves your mouth.
Sit in the silence
In your next conversation, let one silence sit for a few extra seconds before you speak. Notice the urge to fill it, and practice letting it pass instead.
Affirmations
- «I speak my truth clearly and calmly.»
- «My voice is worth hearing.»
- «I can say no without over-explaining.»
